Eldorado Goldrush also known as Eldo’s Goldrush in partnership with Coca Cola sponsored eleven youth from Eldorado Park with a bag and a book at the old courts at the Don Matemall Hall.
The non-profit organisation which was registered in December last year also managed to secure engineering bursaries for the eleven youth through their partnership with Coca-Cola.

Founder of the NPO Dinesh Mitchell who is also a former national basketball team player and an international coach explained that they have embarked on a project in Eldorado Park to start a grassroots basketball programme sponsored by Coca-Cola. The partnership entails having the basketball courts renovated at the Don Mateman Hall in Eldorado Park.

“Every time I come home to visit, the youth will always ask me when am I going to start a project in the community and teach them basketball so there is that hope and vision for basketball in the community.”

“My mission is to get these courts up and running and get the kids playing the sport. Our first initiative is to start a U11 grassroot basketball training and grow the teams from there. The bigger vision is to have every primary and high school in the community have a basketball court and a solid programme running which would lead to creating a league in Eldorado Park. We would like to then have scholarships for learners and also then have an exchange programme with the United States where our top players can go study and play basketball that side,” said Mitchell.

The founder and the other directors; Phetheho Mosia, Bianca Cohen, and Lesedi Matome of Eldo’s Goldrush would like to thank Georgett Naidoo from Coca Cola and they would also like to call upon any organisations who are working on youth skill development programmes to partner in this project.
