The event is part of the NPO’s work aimed at empowering and educating the community while fighting against social issues faced by young people through the use of art and creative platforms.

The talent show will boast over 20 participants from surrounding areas who will participate under five different categories including Comedy, Dance, Drama, Music and Poetry.

The event will also feature local clothing brand Tsakane’s Closet who will showcase exclusive designs on a runway.

Speaking about the event, Themba Nkwanyana said, “We aim to use our talent to spread a message to all young dreamers in Mzansi. Our artists dedicate their lives to inspire and motivate young dreamers that it is possible to be successful in life without engaging in wrong things such as alcohol abuse, crime and teenage pregnancy.”

The Doornkop-based organisation has partnered with Ward 129 councillor, Phumlile Shange and local businesses in the area to ensure the day becomes a success.

Nkwanyana said that funds raised from the talent show will go towards purchasing winter essentials. He further explained that this was part of an extended charity drive to celebrate June 16 to help a local old age home.

“The charity event will be on the 16th at Motse O Moholo home of the elderly in Doornkop. There are currently 12 elder people residing there and we felt that we needed to lend a helping hand as we have identified that it is fast becoming winter and the elders need to stay warm at all time. But of course due to the lack of resources we saw the need to step in,” said Nkwanyana.

Essentials the organisation is looking to buy will include winter items such as blankets, gloves and socks.

Themba urged anyone who would love to support the work they do to reach the foundation via email mzansiexposetalent@gmail.com or contact them on 073 157 0014 / 079 014 0417 or via Facebook on their page Mzansi Expose Talent.
