Two years later, the Diepkloof has received his first nomination for Best Actor at this year’s Mzansi Arts and Media Awards (MAMA) to be hosted in September.

The 27 year old actor, mc, vocal performer and motivational speaker said his younger sister who introduced him to the industry, ignited his spark for the big screen.

Muyemari Kobane made his acting debut on Etv’s Rhythm City in 2020.

“Growing up, we use to shoot videos, trying to make our own movies. So it’s always been a passion of mine.

“As I was working as an agent for three years I realised that I was wasting my time.

“I realized that this is not what I was born for and it wasn’t what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. You know when you do something that you don’t love, at the end you not committed to it and it showed. That’s when I started my acting,” he said.

Kobane made his acting debut on Etv’s Rhythm City in 2020 where he played a role of a thug and has never looked back.

His growing portfolio include acting alongside some of South Africa’s leading actors on TV shows like SABC 1’s Judas Kiss, 1Magic’s Lingashoni, Moja Love document-drama, Mzansi Greed and most recently as part of the SABC 2′ soap-opera, Muvhango playing the character of a goon which aired in April.

The actor who has become best known for his role as Mk on Mzansi Magic drama series, Vula Vala said he was happy that his acting career was finally yielding results.

“I am happy that I have been nominated to be recognised for my work and talent. I hope this will be the beginning of bigger things for my career but the competition is too high. They are still going to check who has the most votes and that will subsequently determine who qualifies to make it to the venue,” he explained.

Through my own production, I will be able to give youngsters the opportunity to join the industry and be at the helm of exposing new talent to South Africans.”

Kobane urged anyone who wishes to vote for him to SMS MAMAP 2287 to 47439, SMS. Voting lines will remain open until July 22. SMS cost R 3.
