The zonal league which was formed in 2022 shared its sentiments as it called on local teams ahead of the it’s 2023/24 season, in what its hopes will be a spectacular showcase of young talent.

The League convener Lerato Modisane said the reason that the league was established was to mitigate the high costs associated with travelling to other townships to participate in leagues.

“There are many teams in our area that do not participate in leagues, therefore they join a lot of tournaments just to keep the players active and game fit but the downside of gambling games is that we run the risk of hurting our players due to the aggression displayed by our coaches because they want to win some money,” she explained.

Modisane added, “The advantages of having a well-structured and SAFA accredited league in our community include equipping our players and coaches with discipline and dedication and enhances their character and personality within our communities.”

“We would like to encourage more teams to join and register for the upcoming season.

“We remain very excited to see the crop of our new talent and are calling on coaches to step forward as we want to increase our database for coaches as part of our plan is to have a coaches’ indaba, a platform we can use to empower coaches,” Modisane Concluded.
