The trust fund was established in 1997 while its alumni’s group was then established in 2008 to plough back into communities.
Nompumelelo Matiso, Chairperson of JB Marks Education Trust Fund alumni said, “Upon our assessment of the school, it came to our attention that the school had a computer lap space but it had no computers. So it became clear that there was a need for the school to have computers, so we are thrilled at the events that took place today.”
The alumni donated eight computers to the learning institution which was received by the delighted school principal and educators from the school.
The excited learners who were also present at the handover broke out in scenes of musical performances and poetry to express their gratitude to the organisation.

“As the alumni we know and understand what it feels like to not have and donating computers is great because we are in the fourth industrial revolution.
“We felt giving them away to a primary school will best equip them with the necessary and relevant skills early on at a primary level and prepare them for their secondary and higher level of education,” said Matiso
The alumni group consists of former beneficiaries of the JB Marks Education Trust Fund who were funded through a bursary by the National Union of Mineworkers.
Matiso said this formed part of their various projects the group has undertaken every year towards giving back to communities in need, something which was also done for them.
