Batsogile Primary School in Klipspruit, Soweto, receives support and guidance
This NPO is dedicated to empowering learners and addressing social challenges, inspiring a brighter future for the community.
Unity@One visited Batsogile Primary School (BPS) in Klipspruit, Soweto, to engage with them on social topics such as bullying, personal hygiene and respect.
Unity@One is an NPO founded in 2023. It is community-based and focuses more on learners.
National High School’s Quiz tests learners’ knowledge
It aims to assist the learners and the school at large with the challenges that they face, such as illiteracy.
The NPO also has a soup kitchen and food parcel drive aimed at the elderly.
Founder of Unity@One, Lerato Ntsibande, shared how important it is to give back to the community with the little they have.

“Although our main focus is on learners, we do have soup kitchens on Mondays and Thursdays and give out food parcels when we can.
“We also visit them in their homes because most of them stay with their children or grandchildren who are substance addicts,’’ said Ntsibande.
Topics such as personal hygiene, bullying, respect and LGBTQI+ were discussed and the learners engaged and shared some of their knowledge.
Extramural activities have also been introduced after school, such as choir, debate and sewing classes by Unity@One, where the learners will be able to channel their energy and focus into something that will upskill them.

Kesentseng Tshukudu, principal at BPS, shared her gratitude for what Unity@One has and continues to do for the learners.
‘’The NPO is doing a great job with these children. We live in a world where children are exposed to things such as drug abuse and bullying and I believe that these sessions and extramural activities will keep the learners away from that.
“We are also excited about having a choir at the school,’’ said Tshukudu.
