Police make breakthrough in Westbury double murder case

The Anti-Gang Unit made a breakthrough in the Westbury double murder case, arresting a 20-year-old suspect following an intelligence-driven operation.

Members of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) received crucial information from the Crime Intelligence Unit and made a successful arrest of a 20-year-old suspect in connection with a Westbury double murder and an attempted murder at a high school in Diepkloof on October 29.

Upon arrival, AGU members positively identified the suspect and placed him under arrest.

The incident resulted in two deaths and five counts of attempted murder. Investigations are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects.

Two of the five victims have been discharged from hospital.

The SAPS urges the public to assist in the investigation by providing any information on the whereabouts of the suspects. Tips can be reported to the SAPS Crime Stop line at 08600 10111.
