Robbery suspects nabbed in Dobsonville

Dobsonville crime prevention unit members were involved in a shoot-out with three suspects.

Police in Dobsonville successfully arrested three suspects who robbed a courier vehicle and disarmed an escort security car at Dobsonville Mall.

The suspects are aged between 20 and 25 years-old.

A police report revealed that on Wednesday, April 26, at Jonas Moabi Street, Dobsonville crime prevention unit members were involved in a shoot-out with three suspects which afforded them a recovery of a courier NP 200 bakkie, three unlicensed firearms and cellphones that amount to an estimated value of R210 000.

“It is alleged by the victims that while delivering cellphone stock at Dobsonville Mall, they were hijacked at gunpoint by four males and drove away with them together with the getaway vehicle,” SAPS Spokesperson, Constable Vusi Thokwan explained.

Dobsonville police managed to avert the danger such that the suspects were forced to surrender. The arrest was executed with no casualties, and the suspects were detained at Dobsonville SAPS.

Constable Thokwan added, “The arrested suspects are facing charges of attempted murder, possession of hijacked motor vehicle, stolen property, unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”

Dobsonville station commander applauded the members of the police for their act that managed them a wonderful arrest. He further emphasized that no act of crime would be tolerated in the area.

The suspects will appear at the Roodepoort magistrate court in due time, other properties confiscated were booked in for further investigation.
