Eldos SAPS arrest suspect for unlicensed firearm

Members of the Eldorado Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit conducted an Operation Teka Hinkwaswo.

Eldorado Park SAPS arrested a 36-year-old suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition whilst they nabbed two other suspects for business robbery and car hijacking on March 31.

All are detained at the Eldorado Park SAPS cells for further investigation and will appear in court soon.

Between 04:00 and 06:00 on the day, members of the SAPS responded to a business robbery at Big Daddy Spaza shop on Cumming Road in Ext 1.

Whilst on the scene, a white Ford Focus slowly drove past, and community members informed the police that the vehicle was involved in the robbery. The members gave chase and stopped it at Goud Street.

They immediately approached the vehicle and searched the three men. One of them, searched by Sergeant Ndaba, had a firearm hidden on his waist.

The member retrieved it and requested him for his license, which he failed to do. Upon enquiry on the vehicle and pistol, the police established the firearm was reported stolen in a Booysens case.
