Malawian man busted in Soweto for AK-47 and two pistols

Police officers from Naledi in Soweto were conducting a stop-and-search operation when they noticed a suspicious vehicle with four occupants.
When the officers attempted stopped the vehicle, the driver ignored the police and sped off, prompting a chase that ended when the car crashed into a tree.

All four suspects jumped out of the car and fled. Officers apprehended one of them, who was carrying a pistol. A search of the vehicle uncovered another pistol and an AK-47 rifle with ammunition.
The police believe the suspects were en route to commit a robbery. They are still searching for the three others who escaped.
The Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mthombeni, commended the officers for their vigilance during the operation.
