Eldorado Park police nab suspect with unlicensed firearm
The incident occurred during a Disruptive Crime Prevention Operation from 16:00 until 04:00, when police were patrolling and maintaining visibility in Freedom Park.
A suspect has been arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The incident occurred during a Disruptive Crime Prevention Operation from 16:00 until 04:00, when police were patrolling and maintaining visibility in Freedom Park.
Officers received intelligence that an adult male was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and was on his way to buy drugs. Additional information regarding the suspect’s clothing was also provided.
“The members followed up on the information and indeed the suspect was spotted fitting the exact description. Permission to search was requested and granted.

“During the search, a black 9mm pistol was found on the suspect. He failed to produce a licence to possess a firearm,” said Eldorado Police Station communications officer, Fezeka Khobo.
Khobo added that the suspect was arrested, detained at Eldorado Park SAPS for further investigation, and will appear in the magistrate’s court soon.
Eldorado Park SAPS station commander Brigadier Maluleke, praised the station, saying its methods in combating crime in Eldorado Park are effective and that the results speak for themselves.
