Two men face murder and illegal firearms charges
The two appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on March 2.
Two men, aged 33 and 43, have appeared in court on charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
According to police spokesperson Mpho Tshetlhane, the incident occurred during a routine patrol by members of Johannesburg Central Police Station on February 28 at about 18:30, when officers reportedly heard gunshots coming from the taxi rank area.
Police quickly responded and found a 42-year-old man lying in a pool of blood.

“Two unidentified armed men were seen fleeing the crime scene. Upon noticing the presence of police, the men attempted to conceal themselves inside a nearby building; however, they were subsequently cornered and arrested,” Tshetlhane said.
He added that a search of the men yielded a revolver with 39 live rounds, a 9mm pistol with 10 live rounds, and cash, including Lesotho currency.
Tshetlhane confirmed that police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
