A Pimville family is demanding justice after discovering the body of their daughter, Nokwazi Mashaya, in her room at their home in Zone 1 in the early hours of March 22.
The family said the shocking discovery has left them devastated and searching for answers.
Mashaya’s uncle, Modisaotsile Tshikare, said what began as a normal Sunday morning quickly turned into a nightmare.
“Nokwazi used to do my laundry. I remember calling her while she was in her room early on Sunday, but there was no response. When I went in, I found her lifeless body. That image still plays in my mind like it was yesterday,” he said.
According to the family, Mashaya had been in a relationship marked by frequent arguments, and they suspect an altercation may have taken place before her death.

They added that on the night of March 21, the couple had been socialising a few houses away and left at about 03:00.
The family claims the suspect was later seen by community members. He reportedly fled after being chased and remains at large.
Tshikare described Mashaya as a bubbly and neat person who was loved by those around her.
“We want justice for our daughter. No one deserves to die at the hands of another person,” he said.
Mashaya is survived by her two children and will be laid to rest on March 28.
