Eldorado Park police arrest armed robbery suspect during foot chase

An alleged armed robbery suspect was arrested in Eldorado Park on Monday evening following a police operation.

Sergeant Fezeka Khobo said members of the Eldorado Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, together with Gauteng Traffic Wardens, were conducting routine patrols when they received crime intelligence about two suspects linked to a robbery earlier this month.

Khobo explained that the suspects were reportedly seen roaming in Mimosa Street, EXT 3, and were identified from a trending video linked to an armed robbery involving occupants of a white Hyundai H100 truck on March 21.

She said officers immediately followed up on the information and, upon arrival, spotted the two suspects. One of the suspects allegedly fled when he noticed the police vehicle approaching, prompting a foot chase.

Khobo added that police managed to apprehend one suspect, and after conducting a search with his consent, discovered two half mandrax tablets in his possession.

She further indicated that the suspect was arrested for possession of drugs and was linked to the armed robbery case.

The suspect remains in custody at Eldorado Park SAPS and is expected to appear in court soon.
