Murder case opened after man fatally wounded at Baragwanath Taxi Rank

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 59-year-old businessman was fatally shot at a busy taxi rank in Diepkloof.

Police in Diepkloof have opened a murder case following the fatal shooting of a 59-year-old man at the Baragwanath Taxi Rank.

Officers responded to reports of a body at the scene, where they found the victim — a foreign national businessman — covered with a blanket. He had sustained gunshot wounds to the forehead and throat.

Emergency medical services were called, and the man was declared dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and no suspects have been identified at this stage.

The Local Criminal Record Centre processed the scene, where three cartridges were recovered. The body was later transported to Forensic Pathology Services for further examination.

Police investigations are ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the SAPS Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111.
