Suspected drug lab discovered during police operation

The SAPS Organised Crime Unit discovered a suspected drug lab in Rembrandt Avenue, Sandton, seizing chemicals, equipment and drugs with an estimated street value of R1.5 million. No arrests have been made as investigations continue.

The police in Gauteng have made a breakthrough in the fight against drug proliferation after the Organised Crime Unit discovered a suspected drug lab in Rembrandt Avenue, Sandton, on April 12.

The team acted on intelligence information, which led them to a house where they found chemicals, equipment and suspected drug products.

“The product found is estimated to have a street value of approximately R1.5 million. No one was found in the house, and a case of manufacturing of suspected drugs has been opened for further investigation.

Acting on information, the team discovered chemicals, equipment and suspected drug products.

The police in Gauteng are committed to fighting crime and will continue to crack down on drugs and illicit manufacturing,” said Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi from SAPS.
