Road closed in Ormonde as JMPD responds to active crime scene

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said the law enforcement officials are presently on-site processing the area.

The JMPD informed motorists of a complete road closure that was in effect at the intersection of Crownwood Road and Rente Street in Ormonde.

This closure is due to an active crime scene.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said the law enforcement officials are presently on-site processing the area.

“For public safety and to preserve the integrity of the scene, the roadway will remain inaccessible until further notice,” he said.

Fihla further stated that motorists should expect heavy delays on all routes approaching the Ormonde area, particularly the M1 Highway.

He said the Crownwood Road is cordoned off between Rente Street and the surrounding blocks.

“Traffic is being diverted by officers on the ground; however, secondary routes are already experiencing high volumes,” explained Fihla

He added that motorists are strongly advised to seek alternative routes to reach their destinations.
Motorists can use Xavier Street or the M1 Highway (Booysens/Gold Reef City exits) to bypass the affected intersection.
