Four arrested for sexual assault of six-year-old
The suspects include the mother of the victim, who faces additional charges of failure to report a sexual offence against a child and defeating the ends of justice.
An uncle (27), a mother (33), and two men (41 and 43), all from Booysens, appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on May 26.
The suspects are facing two counts of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl. The mother faces additional charges of failure to report a sexual offence against a child and defeating the ends of justice.
It is alleged that between May 8 and 10, the mother left her daughter with the two men at their residence in Booysens while she went to a nearby tavern.

“Upon the mother’s return, the child reported the incident to her. Instead of seeking help, the mother allegedly bathed the child, washed her blood-stained underwear, and went to sleep,” said National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana.
On May 11, the child was collected by her father and disclosed the assault to him and his partner.
“They immediately reported the matter to the police. During the arrest of the mother and the two men on May 21, the child further reported that her uncle had previously touched her.
All four suspects were subsequently arrested.”The matter has been postponed to June 1 for further investigations and bail.
