Braamfischerville residents fear rising crime amid robberies and cellphone theft
Residents in Braamfischerville say increasing incidents of street robberies, cellphone theft and burglaries are leaving the community living in fear and calling for stronger police visibility.
Residents have raised concerns over increasing crime in the area, saying they no longer feel safe as incidents of robbery and theft continue to rise.
Community members claim criminals frequently target pedestrians by snatching cellphones from unsuspecting victims in the streets, while burglaries have reportedly become more common.
The incidents have left many residents fearing for their safety, with some alleging that criminals are now targeting people inside their homes.

Locals are calling for increased police visibility and stronger law enforcement intervention to help restore a sense of security in the area.
SANCO Safety and Security chairperson Brenda Mawela also appealed to the relevant authorities and stakeholders to address overgrown grass in parts of Braamfischerville, warning that it creates hiding places for criminals and contributes to unlawful activity.
The matter has been reported to Dobsonville police for attention.
