City of Johannesburg adjusts holiday service hours, reminds residents to settle bills

With customer centres set to operate on limited hours over the festive season, Joburg is calling on residents to clear outstanding accounts beforehand.

The City of Johannesburg has urged residents to settle their municipal accounts ahead of the festive season, warning that Customer Service Centres will be closed on public holidays and will operate on adjusted hours during the period.

The City said in a statement that customers are encouraged to take proactive steps to safeguard their accounts and avoid disruptions while they are away on holiday.

Group Finance director for Customer Communications, Kgamanyane Maphologela, said the festive season often results in missed or delayed payments.

“With credit control operations remaining fully active throughout December and January, customers are strongly encouraged to settle their municipal accounts before travelling,” Maphologela said.

Customer Service Centres across all regions will close early at noon on:
· December 24 (Christmas Eve)
· December 31 (New Year’s Eve)
Maphologela said all centres will be closed on public holidays and on Saturday, December 27.

He added that Region D pay points responsible for prepaid water sales will operate normally throughout the period to ensure uninterrupted access to prepaid services.

Normal operating hours will resume on the next business day after each holiday:
· Monday to Friday: 07:30 – 15:30
· Saturdays: 08:00 – 12:30
The City encouraged customers to use digital platforms and revenue email channels for urgent queries when centres are closed.
