The City of Johannesburg has announced the successful completion of the Naledi Clinic construction project, undertaken by the Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) on March 6.

Following final inspections, the City’s building control has confirmed that the facility is fit for occupation, marking a significant milestone in improving healthcare services for the community.

The new clinic facility consists of the chronic wing, the antenatal wing, the acute wing, and the emergency wing.

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning Eunice Mgcina expressed optimism about the new clinic’s positive impact on residents.

“The completion of the clinic is a testament to the city’s commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure that serves our communities.

“With the construction phase now finalised by the JDA, we are ready to hand over this facility for operational use, ensuring residents have access to essential healthcare services,” said Mgcina.

With 18 consultation rooms, including support buildings, the new clinic will be capable of accommodating larger volumes of patients and providing a wider range of services. The completion of this facility is the first of the JDA’s One Month, One Capex project campaign.

As part of the next steps, Mgcina has formally notified the Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development, Ennie Makhafola, of the project’s completion.

“I have officially written to Makhafola to inform her that the clinic is now ready for occupation.

“Her department can now begin the necessary processes to equip and staff the facility to start serving the people of Naledi as soon as possible,” added Mgcina.

The City of Johannesburg remains committed to delivering infrastructure that enhances service delivery and improves the quality of life for its residents.

Further updates on the operationalisation of the clinic will be provided by the Health and Social Development Department in due course.
