First annual Miss Teenager Soweto underway
"So far, the community has been so helpful since the entries opened with different agencies sending their models and also offering to assist in the success of the pageant."
Miss Teenage Soweto is inviting residents to be part of their pageant that will be held at the Orlando Communal Hall on December 16.
With an aim of empowering teenage models around Soweto, the pageant was established in February during the graduation of one Modelling Motion sponsors, Tholang Lebelo, who designed a poster for the event and later went on to approach sponsors that will invest in the pageant.

Lebelo said as a former model, he saw a need to give back to the community of Soweto and assist young models to showcase their talent.
“So far, the community has been so helpful since the entries opened with different agencies sending their models and also offering to assist in the success of the pageant.

“We have seen amazing support from the community of Soweto including Orlando residents.
“Some also offered their houses that if some models will not have accommodation for the finale we should inform them in time so that they can accommodate them.”
Residents are urged to come witness the evening as young models walk away with prizes.
“Next year we will be extending the invitation to young boys because they often feel neglected when it comes to such events. We aim to change the narrative when it comes to the modelling industry in our beautiful township.”
