Former Miss Soweto thankful for sanitary pads donation

Speaking to Urban News, Sono stated that it breaks her heart to see that so many women still struggle with not having access to sanitary towels.

25-year-old former Miss Soweto, Tsakani Sono has expressed her gratitude for her collaboration with FlatterByLKG sanitary pads in the fight against period poverty.

According to Sono, she was inspired by Lerato Kganyago who is also former Miss Soweto as well as the founder of the FlatterByLKG sanitary pads, to use her platform as a way of giving back to the community.

“Because I am so passionate about helping young women in our communities who are struggling with period poverty, working with FlutterByLKG was an incredible accomplishment. It was an honour to collaborate with the brand,” she explained.

Despite only working with the brand once in November 2023, Sono was able to supply girls from a home for children with special needs with a large number of sanitary towels that would last for months.

Speaking to Urban News, Sono stated that it breaks her heart to see that so many women still struggle with not having access to sanitary towels.

This can have a huge impact in their self-confident and self-esteem which is so important for one to feel loved and valued.

“Having access to sanitary items brings a sense of dignity and pride within oneself. And for as long as I am able to provide sanitary towels to woman with the support of brands like FlutterByLKG and White Star, I will continue to celebrate the beauty and value of women by contributing to the fight against period poverty,” said Sono.

She added that being able to make such a meaningful contribution to her community truly humbles and honours her.

Especially since providing sanitary towels to schools serves as an excellent starting point for conversations with young girls about topics like substance abuse and the significance and value of education.

Lerato Kganyago has been commended by Tsakani for her generosity in giving back to communities in a unique and much-needed way.

“May the impact of the brand FlutterByLKG grow and continue to change more lives,” concluded Sono.
