ALX opportunities expo comes to Soweto

The youth of Soweto is invited to come explore opportunities in tech.

ALX has announced the ALX Opportunities Expo and invites young people aged 18-34 living in and around Soweto attend.

Taking place on Friday, February 16 between 11h00 and 15h00 at the New Hope International Ministries in Zola Soweto, the event promises to unveil exciting opportunities for personal and professional growth.

“At ALX, our mission is to equip South Africa’s youth with practical and technical skills essential for success in today’s dynamic digital economy.

“With a focus on Tech Courses designed to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving tech landscape, we are committed to bridging the digital skills gap and driving employment opportunities in our country” says Divesh Sooka, General Manager, ALX South Africa.

The ALX Opportunities Expo will provide a platform for young people to learn about ALX fully sponsored cutting-edge courses.

What’s more, the fees for these courses are entirely waived, thanks to ALX’s partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

These courses, valued at between approximately R60,000 to R760,000 are open for application to all attendees, ensuring equal opportunities for all aspiring young learners.

Some courses may only require a once off, affordable application fee.

Applicants don’t require any previous experience or qualification, only a matric certificate and access to a computer and internet access.

Well known Social Worker, Life Couch and actress, Busi Mzandolo, better known as “Busi The Therapist” will host a mental health wellness session providing guests with valuable tools for success.

Yves Kanda, Group Head of product, pricing and solutions and Cloud Dynamics at Amazon Web Services (AWS) will host a session demystifying the world of cloud computing and unpacking opportunities that can be unlocked with these tech skills.

There will also be a networking opportunity for attendees to connect with peers and professionals, fostering a supportive community for personal and professional development.

Registration for the ALX Opportunities Expo will take place from 9:00 AM.
