Learners of Sedibeng Day Care Centre enjoy Easter egg hunt

The day saw children of the centre in happy spirits searching for their Easter eggs which they later enjoyed.

Children from Sedibeng Day Care Centre in Diepkloof Zone 3 went on an Easter egg hunt with members of the Pelican Light Foundation on April 02.

This was the foundation’s way of embracing and celebrating the Easter holidays while keeping local children on their toes and giving them a glimpse of what Easter is about.

The co-founder of Pelican Light Foundation, Danny Boshomane said through their Easter egg hunt, they hoped to make the holiday meaningful and unforgettable to the children so that they can also go out and share the fun activities they did on the day with their other age mates.

“We know and acknowledge that this holiday is celebrated differently in every household and some did not get a chance to celebrate it.

“This is why we donated and shared Easter eggs with the children to enjoy and just have memories of what Easter is and the different ways it can be celebrated.

“One of the reasons we are here today is just to cheer the children up, get them into a high mood and let them be children as they learn through playing,” Boshomane said.

He added that they are grateful to Pick n Pay Diepkloof for always being on their side and pledging donations to them so that they can give to the beneficiaries.

“It is through such stakeholders that we are able to share, donate and make the day memorable to the children and we are forever grateful.

“As Pelicans, we would really like to pass extreme gratitude for all the donations they have been assisting us with since day one, all their selflessness does not go unnoticed.”

“We choose working closely with ECD centres because there are many challenges that they face daily.

“This is why we make sure to make their day with the little that we have because we believe that little goes go a long way in putting a smile on the faces of the children,” Boshomane concluded.
