Local organisation celebrates local birthdays for senior citizens

Birthdays are a very special day mostly for the elderly as they get to reflect on the big numbers they have reached.

King Alpha Queen Omega Development Organisation (KAQODO) hosted a combined birthday celebration for the months March and April for 15 elderly women who are part of the organisation and participate in the organisation’s activities.

The celebration was held at the Zola 1 Butt Hut Clubhouse on April 12 in honour of the organisation’s culture of celebrating the ladies’ birthdays quarterly.

KAQODO hosts these birthday celebrations every quarter so that every one of the old ladies who are part of the organisation feel appreciated and celebrated for the beautiful work they participate in when they’re at the clubhouse.

Bongani Tonisi, founder of KAQODO spoke about why he founded the organisation and how he is looking forward to more of these celebrations.

“I sat and looked at our township and I saw that it would be best to bring all the old women together to get them busy with different activities and we saw that this would be very much possible because Social Development already has a programme called Age and Action,” said Tonisi.

Tonisi added that they’re looking forward to having more of these celebrations even in the next quarter and they have also planned a trip to Durban in October for the ladies.

KAQODO is a non-profit organisation that takes care of the elderly in Zola and Dobsonville by giving them different activities to take part in and prepares meals for them. These activities include exercising, making handcrafts and dancing.
