Local centre showered with school shoes

“We are really looking forward to building healthy working relationships with all stakeholders including those we will be working with in the future."

Rena Le Lona Creative Centre for Children was recently announced as the winners of the Brave online school shoe competition by Adcock Ingram OTC.

The centre was showered with a total of 143 new pars of school shoes that were distributed to the children according to their needs and respective backgrounds.

The Centre Manager of Rena Le Lona Creative Centre for Children, Mlungisi Mvelase said they entered the competition with hope that they would win so that they can be able to provide shoes to their children who are in need.

“After entering and submitting our documents, we waited to be contacted by the team and they later informed us that we won.

“It was really an overwhelming and joyous moment for us because every donation we received from various stakeholders really goes a long way in changing the lives of our children for the better.

“We therefore feel really blessed to be beneficiaries of this programme,” Mvelase said.

He added that as a local organisation that works with children from underprivileged backgrounds including orphans, child headed families and vulnerable children, the donations came at the right time to help them put a smile on the faces of the children.

“The parents were also present to witness this kind gesture and the children were really overwhelmed by the kindness we received.

“They could not stop talking about their new school shoes which shows that it’s something they were really in need of.

The centre expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team for pledging this kind gesture.

“As a centre, nothing warms our hearts like seeing our children happy and we thank the team for pledging these donations.”

Mvelase expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the stakeholders who have been donating to the centre amidst all the challenges they have been facing, including Woolworths, Roots, BSI Steel, Debonairs and local businesses and their long term partner HIVSA.

“We are really looking forward to building healthy working relationships with all stakeholders including those we will be working with in the future.

“It really takes a village to raise a child and we would not do it without our village which is the various stakeholders we work with.”
