Push NC and Themalabantwana NC crowned champions

The Eldorado Park SANCA coordinator, Faraad Moyee said they wanted to host a meaningful school holiday programme.

Local netball club and tournament host, PUSH displayed an outstanding performance on their road to claim the school holiday netball tournament, at EXT 7, Eldorado Park, on July 3.

PUSH was crowned the u17 champions against Masibambisane NC while Thembalabantwana NC easily claimed the u15 title with 16 goals to nothing against Masibambisane NC.

The Eldorado Park SANCA coordinator, Faraad Moyee said they wanted to host a meaningful school holiday programme.

He said the purpose of it was to keep the children active by hosting something of interest to them like a netball and soccer tournament.

PUSH NC lifted the school holiday netball program.

“The event is not just about entertainment, we deal with substance abuse, the danger thereof, as well as looking at how to deal with the root of the problem because children do not do drugs out of boredom,” said Moyee.

He said they are doing it because they have issues at home because they did not have anything else to do.

“The programme is targeting them, to help find out what their best possible self would be, exploring their own fears and their own strengths. We do this through music, dance, drama poetry and physical fitness,” he said.

He said the game was good and it was good to witness the players implementing what they have been trying to do in training.

He further noted that new players who came through for the team were adapting well and displayed great confidence.

Makeiso Machetele said winning the tournament meant a lot because she was a bit anxious given that they were playing at home.

“I became more relaxed when my girls started scoring those goals. We are still going to compete in other tournaments because I would like for them to play with stronger teams and develop their character,” said Machetele.
