Joint efforts bring law and order against crime in Eldos
The area plagued by rival gangs has seen a significant decrease in safety due to rampant shootings and drug-related activities.
In a bold move to tackle gangsterism and crime, the JMPD and local authorities launched Operation Vaporise in Eldorado Park, yielding impressive results, on September 12.
Eldorado Park, plagued by rival gangs such as Varados and Fast Guns, has seen a significant decrease in safety due to rampant shootings and drug-related activities.
The operation was led by the Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Dada Morero, and the MMC for Public Safety, Dr Mgcini Tshwaku.

Tshwaku said the community has suffered collateral damage due to the ongoing turf wars.
According to JMPD’s spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla, law enforcement conducted searches of premises, vehicles, and individuals, targeting known hotspots of criminal activity.
The JMPD, in collaboration with local authorities, conducted a thorough operation, yielding the recovery of:
• One black rifle
• One silver revolver
• Two 9mm pistols
• 29 bags of dagga (street value R1450)
• 76 bags of various drugs (street value R7300)
• Arrest of four suspects (two male and two female)
Tshwaku said the success of Operation Vaporise demonstrates the effectiveness of collaborative law enforcement efforts.
Authorities urge rogue elements within their ranks to co-operate in eradicating gangsterism.

“Criminals will no longer find refuge in our communities,” said Tshwaku. “We are escalating door-to-door operations and roadblocks to tackle high-crime areas head-on.
“To win this war, we must connect with residents, enhance resources, increase visibility, and collaborate with the Eldorado Park community.
We have heard the community’s concerns – from gang violence to children as young as 12 involved in firearms and drug trafficking at school.
“We believe proactive, collective action is the only solution. We urge residents to join forces with us, identifying culprits responsible for rampant crime.
“Your involvement is crucial to bringing perpetrators to justice. Together, we can restore safety and security to Eldorado Park.”
Concern over unprosecuted cases

The community expressed concerns regarding unprocessed cases, particularly gang-related ones, being struck off the roll due to lack of prosecution.
The NPA is urged to address this issue, ensuring justice for the people of Eldorado.
