Kiddies Hope Academy recently hosted a career day for the children to learn more about various careers available when they grow up.
The event in Dobsonville saw parents, children, and other stakeholders involved with the institution come together for a day of fun and learning.
Xolai Sithole from Kiddies Hope said the event was part of their year-long programme to teach children about different careers.

It then culminates in a career day in September, where the children dress up as their aspiring careers and do demonstrations in front of their parents and other stakeholders.
“For the first time this year, we introduced our children to agriculture. We taught them where food comes from, and they saw how farms work,” explained Sithole.
“They got to understand the process from when a seed is planted to when the food is on the shelves. There was also a lesson on animals and milk – how milk is processed and handled.”
Learning about farming and animals was exciting for the kids because it was their first time experiencing these things.
Standard Bank also came in with a lesson on financial literacy and opened bank accounts for the children.

They loaded the accounts with vouchers so the children could enjoy movies with their parents over the weekend.
Besides the farm animals, a helicopter ride from Capital Air was another exciting attraction.
Sithole highlighted the importance of teaching children about various careers when young, saying it opens their minds and reminds them that they can do anything they want.
Sithole said, “It was a productive and exciting day for our children. I thank all our sponsors and supporters for making it a successful career day.
“They are Standard Bank, Clinix, the SAPS, the JMPD, McDonald’s, Panarottis, Spur, Debonairs Pizza, Social Development, Twizza, sports and recreation from the City of Johannesburg, the EMS, Jozi FM, SowetoTV and Hyundai.”
He also thanked the parents, especially the fathers, who have shown interest in their children’s education and supported them.
