Eldorado Park church gives back with painting day at children’s home
First AME Church spent the day painting and engaging with children at Little Rose Home while donating essential items to support the shelter.

The First AME Church hosted a painting day and church outreach at the Little Rose Home in Eldorado Park on September 5.
The Little Rose Home is a shelter that aids disadvantaged children within the community and provides shelter for homeless children. The church shared that they came up with the idea of going into the community to spend time with the children and donate essentials to the home.
Reverend Mojalefa Ranthekeleng said: ‘’We thought of a way to give back to our community and we thought why not make it an enjoyable moment for the children; we also just wanted the facilitators to rest while we take over for the day. We will also be donating essentials we have managed to gather as a church and hope that these will really help.’’

The day was interactive, where the children at the home got to paint and share their creative side and thoughts with the church members.
Organiser and board of Christian education Director Itumeleng Maseko told us that this initiative is part of what they call “social action” in the church.
‘’We are more than just a church; we know that the Lord is all bout giving back to each other, and as part of social action, this is one of the ways of practising giving back to the community and sharing what we have. It might not be much; however, it will make a difference,’’ she said.

Superintendent Dawn Mogopudi told Urban News that although this was about giving back, they were also about sharing the word of God with the children and hosting a service and praising collectively.
Facilitator at Little Rose Home, Simu Dladla, expressed his gratitude, adding that the painting tools will be of great assistance to the children and that the session was much needed, as they only have activities for the children from Monday to Friday.
Essentials such as toiletries, cleaning essentials and clothes were handed over to the home by the First AME Church.
