Two suspects killed, one police officer injured in Kliprivier shootout. The suspects, traveling in a stolen vehicle, opened fire on police, who retaliated.

A shootout between police and suspects on the R59 at Kliprivier on October 31, resulted in two suspects killed and one officer sustaining a gunshot wound.

According to Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the Gauteng provincial SAPS spokesperson, the police received information about the suspect’s plans to commit a cross-pavement robbery at Sedibeng.

When approached, the suspects opened fire on the police, who retaliated, fatally shooting two of the suspects. One suspect fled the scene on foot.

Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the provincial commissioner of Gauteng, praised the swift response of the team, which included the Gauteng Tactical Response Team, Gauteng Traffic, and private security companies.

He attributed the success to the minister’s collaboration agreement, which advocates for a multi-disciplinary approach to fight crime.
