“Seven days is a long time for a person to not have access to water, we are struggling to bath, to do laundry and now we are even struggling to go to work because of this situation, the worst issue in this matter is that we are in front of a hardware store and all those establishments receive water daily, why can’t they do the same for us,” he said.

Rapakgadi furthermore stated that they have tried to speak to Johannesburg Water (JW) and plead with them to help restore water, but to this date, nothing has been done to resolve the issue.

In response to the matter, ward councillor Bawinile Magwaza stated that JW had informed her that they have had a challenge with the valves since yesterday, December 1 and will commence with repairs today.

“At the moment water tanker trucks will be made available to supply water to the residents of the ward, I know this is an inconvenience for them but that’s all we have to work with in the meantime,” she said.

Magwaza further said that JW also stated that they will be unable to freely supply water tanker trucks and carry on with repairs if the unrest or protest continues.
