Hearings on Eskom’s price hikes held in Orlando from December 3

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is set to host public hearings at Uncle Tom’s Community Centre, Orlando West, where Eskom’s proposed price hikes for the next three years will be discussed.

The public hearings, scheduled to take place on December 3 and 4, will focus on Eskom’s Sixth Multi-Year Price Determination (MYPD 6) revenue application for the 2025/26, 2026/27, and 2027/28 financial years.

Eskom is seeking R446 billion for 2025/26, R495b for 2026/27, and R537b for 2027/28.

This translates to proposed average price increases of 36.15% for 2025/26, 11.81% for 2026/27, and 9.10% for 2027/28.

The public hearings will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to raise their concerns and provide input on Eskom’s proposal.

NERSA has assured that the regulatory process will be conducted with transparency, fairness, and inclusivity.
