Mrs eSoweto finalists receive sashes
The crowning event for Mrs eSoweto 2024/25 on December 21 will follow the Mrs eSoweto sashing ceremony.
The Mrs eSoweto pageant marked a milestone for its previous finalists with its sashing ceremony over lunch on December 1 at the Soweto Hotel in Kliptown.
The ceremony saw the friends and families of the finalists, sponsors and businesses come together.
Mrs eSoweto 2023/24, Sharleen Jones, said being part of the pageant had changed her life and rescued her from depression.

“I hope local women will, someday, decide to be part of such initiatives because they can help us overcome our fears and learn to be happy with who we are, but most importantly, love ourselves regardless of the hurdles we face in our society as women. It is empowering to be part of such a great initiative,” Jones said.
The sponsors were grateful to be part of a great initiative that preaches empowerment and advocates for mature women from around Soweto.
One sponsor, Sophie Meabelo from Telkom, said her company’s empowerment programmes for women in communities align with the vision of Mrs eSoweto and that they are honoured to be a part of it and look forward to partnering and doing more with the pageant.
The top three finalists will receive a six-month entrepreneurship course sponsored by the UJ-Ackerman Academy to instil a spirit of entrepreneurship and have them start their businesses in the future.
The organiser of Mrs eSoweto Pageant, Fikile Motaung, said it is not merely a pageant but a platform dedicated to empowering women, helping them rediscover their purpose, overcoming challenges and regaining their dignity.

“I am overjoyed with the outcome of this glorious night and that as per our aim, our previous finalists were unveiled and sashed.
This will allow them to do their community work without any hindrances.
“We are grateful to everyone who came on board to join us and for all the support we received from the community and local businesses from day one until now.
“We hope it doesn’t end here and that they will continue walking this journey with us,” Motaung said.
He added that this ceremony will be followed by a red-carpet crowning evening at a prestigious Soweto venue on December 21.
Ticket sales will start shortly and the venue will be announced in due course.
