JMPD issues stern warning to disobedient drivers

Drivers who consistently disregard traffic laws are on JMPD’s radar as high-speed unit officers work to ensure that road users are safe.

The JMPD has warned motorists to obey traffic laws following the arrest of 34 motorists for speeding by the high-speed unit officers in different regions of the City of Joburg.

According to reports, the highest-recorded speeding motorist was caught driving at 149km/h in an 80km zone.

The suspects were detained at various police stations. Motorists are urged to obey speed limits and other road signs, wear seatbelts and avoid distracted driving.

• School zone: 30km/h
