Gauteng Water Police recover two bodies in Soweto

Gauteng Water Wing members were deployed to a drowning next to the Moses Fruit and Veg in Doornkop on February 21.
According to the information from the unit spokesperson Raymond Sambo, on arrival at the scene, the members found the floating body of a 33-year-old stuck in a strainer.
After retrieving the body, they handed it to the Doornkop SAPS members at the scene for further investigation.

Sambo said a second incident happened on Klipvalley Road next to the Nancefield Hostel.
“On arrival at the scene of a missing person, for which SAPS opened a case on February 2, members recovered a blue Toyota Quest in the thick vegetation.
“The scene was called off because of poor visibility and safety concerns,” said Sambo.
He added that members resumed the search, and medics reliably informed them that they retrieved a body from the Klipriver.

Family members were told to go to the mortuary for further verification. The scene was handed to the Moroka SAPS for further investigation.
