Putco promotes road safety over Easter
Putco will have over 400 buses going to Moria in Limpopo for the Zion Christian Church’s Easter pilgrimage.
Putco and municipal and provincial stakeholders held a road safety awareness campaign to promote safe driving ahead of the Easter holidays at the Putco Dobsonville depot on April 7.
The bus company will be operating more than 450 buses transporting ZCC members to Moria for their Easter Pilgrimage, the largest operation since COVID-19.

This campaign brought together Putco bus drivers and experts, who shared tips on road safety with the drivers. Drivers were encouraged to be more vigilant and responsible as they transport passengers to Limpopo.

Putco spokesperson Lindokuhle Xulu said they are expecting an incident-free operation because they have made significant technological improvements to their buses since COVID-19.
“We implemented technological advances in our buses, including monitoring control centres in each one, which allow us to see footage of the trip and if an accident occurs,” he said.
Stakeholder representatives from the SAPS, the JMPD and the Road Accident Fund shared tips on how to be safe on the road.
Nana Radebe-Kgiba from the Emergency Management Service emphasised the importance of knowing the EMS emergency number (10177 from a landline or 112 from a cellphone) and gave a few tips to commuters: “Motorists should keep a safe following distance and get enough rest to prevent fatigue.”

Drive safe, and arrive alive.
