Aaron FC edged by RCS in Eldorado Under-17 league clash

Aaron FC suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against Rangers City Spurs FC (RCS) during the Eldorado Local Football Association Under-17 League at Ext 6 Soccer Field on September 5.

Itumeleng Morwasehla opened the scoring for RCS in the first half, before Lihle Hluthelo extended the lead in the second half.

Divine Mphofu scored Aaron FC’s only goal.

Aaron FC coach Aaron Dimba said his team performed well, but after conceding in the first half, he had to encourage the players during the half-time break.

He said that although they managed to score in the second half, they were unable to avoid defeat.

“I think the lack of communication cost us the game. The boys were not fit enough to compete against our opponents today. We have to return to training and work on improving our communication and our approach to the game,” said Dimba.

RCS coach Lesego Mochai said the game was tougher than they had expected.

“Another thing that made us uncomfortable was the weather. As you can see, it was very windy, and that hindered us from playing our usual game. But we managed to score in the first and second half.”

He said what made him most proud of the players was that it was a new squad, yet they played as though they had been together for three seasons.

“We are currently number eight on the log table. We lost many games due to walkovers at the beginning of the season because we did not have enough players. We missed the opportunity to gain 15 points because of the five league games that we forfeited.”

With only a few games remaining in the league, both sides hope to perform much better next season.
