City pays tribute to nurses on International Nurses Day

The City of Johannesburg has joined the global celebration of International Nurses Day, paying heartfelt tribute to the tireless dedication and compassion of nurses who serve communities across the city.

The City of Johannesburg has joined the rest of the globe in commemorating International Nurses Day by acknowledging the important work that nurses do across the city.

The day, celebrated annually on 12 May in honour of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, honours the key position of nurses in delivering healthcare and nursing communities.

In a moving message, the city extended its sincere appreciation to all nurses serving Johannesburg.

It cited the diligence, perseverance, and compassion displayed by nurses who often work in demanding situations.

The message called for residents to take a moment to recognise and appreciate nurses not only on International Nurses Day but throughout the entire year.

“Let us take a moment to acknowledge, appreciate and celebrate our nurses today and every day,” said Johannesburg council speaker, Nobuhle Mthembu.
