Johannesburg SAPS honours members for excellence at annual district awards
The Johannesburg District of the South African Police Service (SAPS) celebrated the dedication, bravery, and professionalism of its officers at the 2024/ 25 Excellence Awards, recognising individuals and teams for outstanding service.
APS in the Johannesburg District hosted the annual District Excellence Awards on Friday, October 3, celebrating officers and staff who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to policing.
The prestigious ceremony took place in Randburg, with Brigadier Michelle Jones, station commander of SAPS Randburg, welcoming guests.
“The journey of policing is not an easy one. It demands courage in the face of adversity, patience under pressure and compassion when dealing with the most vulnerable in our communities,” she said.

Major General Nonhlanhla Kubheka, Johannesburg District Commissioner, congratulated the award recipients.
“Tonight is not about medals, certificates or applause; it’s about recognising the unwavering dedication, bravery and professionalism of men and women in blue,” she said.
The event also welcomed dignitaries, including retired Major General Max Masha and Brigadier Molefi Tsotsotso, station commander of Midrand.
Lieutenant General Mohlala, Divisional Commissioner for Protection and Security Services, delivered the keynote address, urging managers to hold members accountable while also recognising their achievements.
