Motorists are urged to take caution following a major incident that has led to the full closure of the N12 East in Glenanda, where a truck overturned and spilled its load of coal shortly after the Kliprivier Drive off-ramp.

Traffic is being diverted at the Kliprivier Drive off-ramp as the eastbound carriageway remains completely closed.

“The closure is indefinite while recovery operations and extensive clean-up of the coal spillage are underway,” said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.

“Significant traffic congestion is anticipated in the immediate vicinity and surrounding feeder routes.”

Motorists are advised to exercise patience and use alternative routes such as the M1 or Xavier Street.

JMPD officers are on the scene managing the diversion and traffic flow.
