Khandubuhle Primary School honours top achievers at annual awards in Soweto

Learners were recognised for strong academic performance, leadership, and participation in school activities at the annual awards.

An award ceremony was hosted at Khandubuhle Primary School in Pimville, Soweto, on November 26.

The event honoured learners for their hard work throughout the year and aimed to motivate them to continue excelling.

Held annually, the ceremony celebrates excellence and recognises outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements.

Parents attended the ceremony, beaming with joy and pride, as learners received certificates and trophies. The school also acknowledged learners’ good behaviour and cleanliness.

Principal Zandile Khulu shared her pride in seeing the learners walk across the stage.

“I believe that such an event is a milestone for our learners and encourages them to keep pushing to improve their marks. We also awarded learners beyond academics because they deserve recognition as well,” said Khulu.

The principal also recognised the hard work of the Reading Champions, who won first place for the third time at the Gauteng Department of Education Johannesburg North District.

The learners received trophies and certificates.

The champions participated in the Phendulani Literacy Quiz, which aims to improve knowledge, comprehension, and critical thinking skills.

Guest speakers also attended the ceremony to motivate learners and provide guidance on how to make the best use of the resources available to them.
