Freedom Park teen model seeks support to represent SA abroad
Natacia Mokoena is preparing to represent SA in international competitions following her national beauty pageant win, but her family needs help to cover the substantial travel costs.
Natacia Mokoena, an 18-year-old from Freedom Park, has turned heads ever since she began modelling at the age of seven.
Encouraged by her father, she started competing and later trained at a modelling school under agent Nnedi Nnape.
She recently won the World Imperial Beauty Team SA competition, a three-day programme that included interviews, social events and a crowning ceremony. The victory earned her the opportunity to represent SA on the international stage.

Natacia is scheduled to travel abroad for two trips: A nine-day Mediterranean cruise from Greece to Italy and Turkey in February, followed by a visit to the USA in July to hand her crown to the next winner.
However, the estimated R50 000 in combined travel and accommodation costs is a significant challenge for her family.
Natacia said she volunteered at the Issa Lethu Youth Forum, preparing meals, teaching and helping children with homework. She also helped at a local clinic, gaining insight into the needs of her community.
She described these experiences as eye-opening, saying they taught her the value of giving back.
Her father, Desmond Mokoena, explained that funding the trips has been difficult. The family took out loans to cover past competitions, and now faces the daunting prospect of raising R50 000 for the upcoming international trips.

He added that any contributions from the community would be appreciated.
Natacia is looking forward to the February trip and hopes her participation will inspire other young people.
She encouraged her peers to believe in themselves and fight GBV because the youth can make a difference.
