A scholar transport accident has again raised concerns about learner safety in Protea Glen.

This accident follows a collision involving a Toyota Condor and a Toyota Quantum on the intersection of Wildchestnut Street and Protea Boulevard early on January 27.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla confirmed that both vehicles were transporting learners: Two in the Condor and three in the Quantum. No learners were injured, although both drivers sustained slight injuries.

Fihla said, as a precautionary measure, all learners and both drivers were transported to the Chiawelo Clinic for medical evaluation.

“The cause of the accident has not yet been determined. JMPD officers will compile an accident report to determine the circumstances leading to the collision,” said Fihla

The JMPD urges motorists to be careful, especially when transporting youth.
