The JMPD K9 Unit has successfully recovered a hijacked vehicle on May 23 after receiving a report from the vehicle tracking company.

The blue Toyota Corolla had been hijacked in Orlando, Soweto. Officers promptly launched a target search after the tracking complaint in the area.

Due to the timely response, the vehicle was located and recovered after being abandoned at the Diepkloof Hostel.

‘’The JMPD issues a stern warning to perpetrators of vehicle- related crimes to cease stealing and hijacking vehicles as law enforcement agencies remain resolutely committed to tracking down stolen property, dismantling criminal syndicates, and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice,’’ said JMPD spokesperson, Superintendent Xolani Fihla.

The recovered vehicle has been lodged at the Lenasia SAPS pound for further processing and profiling.
Fihla further shared that officers are working tirelessly around the clock to remove criminals from the streets and protect communities.
