Multi-vehicle crash reported on M1 North at Crown Interchange

The crash involved two heavy-duty trucks and a light motor vehicle.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) attended the scene of a serious multi-vehicle crash on the M1 North at the Crown Interchange at about 15:40 on Monday, June 1.

The crash involved three vehicles, including two heavy-duty trucks and a light motor vehicle. Preliminary reports indicate the light motor vehicle became wedged between the two trucks during the collision.

“Two occupants of the light motor vehicle, the driver and a passenger, sustained serious injuries. Both were stabilised on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment,” said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.

“The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined and remains under investigation. A case of reckless and negligent driving will be investigated further.”
