Truck driver killed in fatal N12 crash near Comaro Road
A truck driver died in a collision involving a minibus taxi on the N12 westbound near Comaro Road, forcing the closure of three lanes and causing severe traffic congestion.
A truck driver was killed in a collision involving a heavy-duty truck and a minibus taxi on the N12 westbound, just beyond the Comaro Road off-ramp in the Bassonia/ Gleneagles area on July 2.
According to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), the truck driver sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The minibus taxi driver was uninjured, and no other injuries were reported.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the truck’s load shifted forward during the collision, crushing the cab and fatally injuring the driver.

Motorists travelling westbound are urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes, including the R59, South Rand Road, Verona Street and Rifle Range Road.
The JMPD said further updates will be provided as recovery operations continue.
