In the spirit of a month dedicated to generosity and community support, Mamlangeni Feeding Scheme (MFS) received a donation from Miss Soweto and White Star as a way of supporting the initiative at Orlando East, Soweto on July 29.

Aimed at alleviating food insecurity and ensuring that communities are nourished, MFS provides nutritious meals, prioritising children in the community of Orlando East. Director of MFS, Nobantu Siyaphi told Urban News that the idea of the feeding scheme came from the love and passion they had as a family of sharing and lending a hand where they can.

“As a co- founder of the feeding scheme, the dream we have for the feeding scheme is that it goes beyond Orlando East into communities that are vulnerable so that we can make an impact in those communities, no matter how small,’’ said Lungile Siyaphi, Miss Soweto 2025/ 26.

Founder of Miss Soweto, Collen Sithole shared that this is just the tip of the iceberg saying: “As the Miss Soweto brand, having brands such as White Star as a partner is a way of us making a difference and our mark. We are more than just a pageant, but a platform where we get to see initiatives such as MFS being born and empowering the community. With this donation, we are giving the little that we have and hope that it will make a difference.’’

Nobantu emphasised Sithole’s sentiments that this is just more than a beauty pageant as her daughter was challenged to bring change in the community as a community activist and the feeding scheme came fruition.
Miss Soweto and White Star handed out products such as maize meal and instant porridge that will sustain recipients of the feeding scheme.
