He said their goal is to see local small businesses grow, create employment opportunities and become compliant, noting that the growth of these businesses also means the growth of the festival.
“We are one of the most budget-friendly events, and the food we provide is affordable. We are trying to ensure that our food remains accessible because we understand the needs of our community. I think people should come and support these small businesses. Children are also welcome, as this is a family event that is open to everyone,” he said.
At the launch, Tshingilane said attendees of the festival can expect more than 50 stalls offering a variety of products, from drinks and sweet treats to accessories. He emphasised that the festival will offer much more than just kotas.

“What we will be doing this year is amplifying the experience by adding a little bit of unbelievable flavours among our vendors through our support with Aromat products.

“We are bringing them to the forefront and connecting them with the people who matter most, our customers. We are also here to support their journey in creating a living through their businesses,” she said.
At the launch, the festival was commended for its continued impact in creating job opportunities, changing lives and proudly raising the Soweto flag.
